GFE-NFT is a collaboration between Instagram model/musician @OnaArtist (4.6M) and digital artist Leah Schrager. As Hyperallergic has said, “Schrager started making something akin to NFTs before there were NFTs. For over ten years, the artist has been making one-of-a-kind digital art that explores themes of celebrity and sexuality, merging the worlds of porn and art in a kind of ongoing online performance piece.”

Of @OnaArtist, Playboy said, “There are few singers and artists who are so unique, so individual, so highly talented that they’re known by just one name. Beyonce. Picasso. Madonna. Prince. Perhaps it’s time you add another name to that list: Ona.” Her work as appeared at the Museum of Sex in NYC, she was featured in “Assterpieces of the Online Century,” and she has (proudly) had multiple social media accounts deleted from Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Tik Tok, and more for “violating Community Guidelines.”
On top of her collaboration with @OnaArtist, Schrager’s projects have included Sarah White (The Naked Therapist) and An American Dream (The Manhands Project). Her visual works apply a painterly aesthetic to her own bodily representations and often draw their material from her conceptual online practice in order to explore the fertile crossroads of business, fandom, digital persona, and glamour.
In a conscious act of ownership over her work that is rare for her time, Schrager is model, photographer, artist, and promoter for all her imagery. In 2016 she wrote the very first academic article on Instagram modeling, “The Self-Made Supermodel,” for With over 5M followers across multiple platforms, she has been exploring the world of avatars, alternate forms of commerce, and the metaverse for some time.
Schrager has been compared by critics and journalists to such seminal figures as Marina Abramovic, Marcel Duchamp, Laurel Nakadate, Diane Fossey, and Sigmund Freud. She and/or her work has been profiled in 1000′s of media outlets, including Art Forum, Monopol, The Huffington Post, Vice, Viceland, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, CBS News, ABC News, The NY Daily News, and Playboy. She has exhibited at Art Basel Miami, Johannes Vogt Gallery, Castor Gallery, Untitled Space, Roman Fine Art, ArtHelix Gallery, and the Museum of Visual Art in Leipzig.
